Sunday Dinner at Cody Creek

What do you do with a beautiful Sunday afternoon and you own a Corvette? Take that sucker out and drive it! And if you are a member of this club then more than likely you'll wind up someplace that serves food! Which is exactly what we did. With the promise of good weather and our first forecasted 80º day, Saturday a few of us formulated a plan. A quick call to Martha Harding (the voice of TCC) and the plan was set in motion. Martha made a few phone calls, sent out an email and I hastily threw up an invite on the website.
When I arrived at our designated meeting place, I was pleasantly surprised that so many people had taken advantage of this spur of the moment event. Mark Shellberg ventured out in one of his cars (rumor has it it was the only one that ran), Brad Bean took their black C5 out of moth balls for the occassion, Joe and Micky put memories of the Florida Key behind them to join us, Virginia let Tim drive her car, Mickie talked Martha into cleaning his wheels so they could come and Deb got up early, drove to Galax to check on her mother and was back in time for us to make it. Bottom line, if you missed this one, you have no excuse!
If you have never been, Cody Creek is a gem in the middle of no where. It is located on Hwy 601 between Mt. Airy and Dobson. The restaurant is called The Depot and serves some of the best food you have every eaten. The menu covers everything from steak, to ribs, to sea food and just about everything in between. We have another trip to Cody Creek planned for early spring. Check our event calendar on the main page then mark your calendar so you don't miss it!
Here are a few photos of Cody Creek....

You enter Cody Creek via a covered bridge.

Drive past the General Store and into the parking area.

At the center of the parking lot is a beautibul gazebo with parking around the outside of the lot. Just off the parking lot is a log cabin church. There is also a banquet hall under construction. It will be available for receptions, banquets, etc... It is designed to handle around 400 people.
We left Cody creek and headed back toward Winston-Salem on Hwy 268. We took a slight detour in King, NC and went by the Dairi-O for some ice cream. It was a beautiful day. We enjoyed great comradre, wonderful food and fantastic weather. Best part was, no one broke down! (Get those tail lights fixed, Mark!)
